ALEXANDER DESOUZA is an Indo-Canadian director known for an “old soul” sensibility that emphasizes timeless storytelling and visual precision. His work is characterized by a deep focus on character and atmosphere, earning him a reputation as a thoughtful and deliberate voice in both scripted and documentary filmmaking.

His directorial portfolio is highlighted by the 2025 sci-fi drama HOLO, starring Shane West and Morgan Kohan, which IndieShorts Mag lauded as "excellent" during its current run on the festival circuit. Alexander’s previous narrative work includes the Golden Sheaf-nominated MOTHER’S DAY which earned international distribution via Shorts TV and SKIN, which premiered at the 23rd Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival before being featured on Film Shortage.

Alexander’s versatility extends into the documentary and digital space, having been commissioned by CBC Arts to direct the shorts Art in the Wild and Take a Hard Look. He is also the director behind the web pilot BACK TO ONE, currently in development with Colrize Productions.

As the co-founder of The Wonderlight Company, Alexander is now focused on his feature film debut. Based on his documentary Miracles in Uganda, the project is slated to go into production in early 2027.

A graduate of York University’s BFA Film program and an alumnus of the Reykjavik Film Festival Talent Lab, Alexander is a full member of the Directors Guild of Canada, Directors UK, and BAFTA, and serves as a voting member of the Canadian Screen Academy.
